If only I was still at uni I could head into the print bureau or library and print this out big on some nice thick paper. Now I've graduated, I'm stuck with an A4 inkjet that's run out of ink!

Quick update
So I graduated on Friday, lots to write about but I just wanted to keep this update short and get this up here. It's one of those work in progress pieces which I'm not sure whether it's finished or not. Either way, here is the first Batman drawing I've done in probably a decade. Click for larger images.

Competition time!
Yikes so D&AD's New Blood at Spitalfields is officially under way, I'll be heading there tomorrow and am looking forward to seeing UCA Maidstone's stand, essentially the culmination of our classes 3 years on the degree course.
It's a shame each university gets such a small space, not that there's room to have it any other way, so there'll be a lot of work densely packed in! It was exciting to attend New Blood last year so who knows how it'll actually feel to be one of the exhibitors this year.
So in these post university times, I'm keeping up some self initiated projects. These work in progress t shirts are for a competition run by a website I'm a fan of, with some pretty awesome prizes (amongst which will be having these sold on their website) but before counting my chicks before they hatch I'll leave it there and will blog in the future about how this one turns out.

So the final major project is long over, and us almost ex-student types are in the process of gearing up for D&AD's New Blood exhibition. There are plenty of things I would change about my project were I to attempt it again, and I'm sure if I started it again today it would look completely different, but for now this is a selection of images from the book as it is. Now I'm just excited to start my first post University project!
Alvin Straight's journey seemed to me to be a very personal one. A true story, he journeyed almost 400 miles to see his estranged brother whom he hadn't see for 10 years. Although he has family at the beginning and end of his journey, the 400 miles he has to drive across on a 30 year old lawnmower he is largely on his own, and I tried to reflect this by stripping the text away as much as possible, leaving only a line or two on pages found at the beginning and end of the book.

Blurb
http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3263100
So what will probably be the final version of this book is now up on Blurb, there's 20 odd pages you can preview by clicking on the book itself at that link. There's the option to buy it as well which I didn't necessarily want on the website (nor do I expect anyone to actually buy one!) but I haven't figured a way out to have the book public for people to see without having the buying options there.
The finished book is a really nice size, 13 x 11 inches, and Blurb did an amazing job binding and printing it all. This version linked is one I ordered last night so I will take pictures once it arrives.
